What is ORCID?
ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a free, unique, persistent identifier (PID) for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. ORCIDs are free of charge and provided to ensure all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time.
ORCID is integrated into many systems that publishers, funders, institutions, and other research-related services use.

Connect your ORCID iD to Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility
When you connect your ORCID iD, you grant us to receive your verified ORCID iD [and other functions]. Use this link: https://misportal.jlab.org/orcid/ to authorize Jefferson Lab to receive your ORCID iD and use it in our systems.
Why register? Your ORCID iD:
- Distinguishes you and ensures your research outputs and activities are correctly attributed to you
- Reliably and easily connects you with your contributions and affiliations
- Reduces form-filling: you enter data once, have it reused often)
- Improves recognition and discoverability for you and your research outputs
- Is interoperable: it works with many institutions, funders, and publishers
- Is persistent: you can use it throughout your research career
Having an ORCID iD is also a requirement of many journal manuscript submission systems and grant application forms.
Make your ORCID work for you
The more well-populated ORCID records there are the more value researchers and the entire community can gain from participating in ORCID.
