Chapter 9 Evacuation Procedure for Drills and
Actual Events |
1.0
Purpose
Evacuation
drills are conducted to familiarize staff with fire alarm and evacuation
routes, test the process of accounting for all personnel known to be in the building,
and evaluate staff response to an alarm. An actual event evacuation follows the
same process steps as an evacuation drill minus preparation and alarm
activation.
At least
one evacuation drill is performed per calendar year in the following buildings
by the designated Evacuation Drill Coordinator in accordance with International
Fire Code; Section 405, Emergency Evacuation Drills; and, DOE G 151.1-4 Section
7.3.8, Accountability. An actual event
that causes an evacuation may serve as a qualifying “evacuation drill” if it is
documented, as described, in Section 4.0, Process Steps, below.
