Biographical Sketches Nominee for Senior Member of the 2008 JLab User Group Board of Directors
Shalev Gilad, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Shalev Gilad received his PhD from the Tel Aviv University in Israel in 1979. Between 1979 and 1990, he held a postdoc position at MIT and performed industrial research work in Israel, including as chief scientist in Cubital, Ltd. Shalev returned to MIT in 1990 and has held the positions of research scientist and principal research scientist with the Nuclear Interactions Group. In this capacity he has worked in the MIT-Bates and MAMI but mostly in the Jefferson laboratories, where he has done research work and supervised graduate students doing experiments in all 3 halls. Shalev’s main research interests include the electromagnetic structure and spin structure of the nucleon as well as the structure and interactions with few-body and complex nuclei.
